– Lavender Fields Play Area

WYCHAVON DISTRICT COUNCIL
LAVENDER FIELDS PLAY AREA

JOB OVERVIEW

This well-loved community play area in Evesham required an upgrade to improve and add play value to the existing facility, with new play equipment and wet pour rubber safety surfacing keep in compliance with current UK health and safety regulations. Smart Cut has worked closely with Wychavon District Council for over 25 years and when Wychavon posted a competition, we were more than happy to tender.

INITIAL PROBLEM

Lavender Fields Play Area is an open space that is enjoyed by the local community. Due to the ever-changing safety regulations, this public open space required an upgrade to meet the critical fall height regulations. We were appointed as the successful bidder to carry out the essential works.

THE SOLUTION SMART CUT PROVIDED

Smart Cut tendered for the installation of concrete pin curbing, which was required to surround each piece of equipment, and the installation of new play equipment including two bounce springers and installing new pendulum basket seat and chains to existing swing. Jayne O’Connor from Wychavon District Council liaised with Tom, General Manager of Smart Cut, discussing the tight time deadline and health and safety measures to comply with site management.

Once a plan was received Smart Cut were able to begin work and complete the job in sufficient time enabling the other contractor to begin their task of installing the safety surface. The job was completed within the time deadline enabling the play area to be re-opened for the holiday period.

"I was pleased with the daily running of this project, the updates of progress and the professional way the work was carried out. The site closure was managed efficiently, and safety measures were adhered to at all times. The project was completed on time and within budget."
